Committees

In order to carry out all the projects that Kiwanis is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

Board of Directors:
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization. The members of the board focus on the strategy, oversight, and accountability of the organization. The board members are also responsible for making key decisions that address the organization’s mission, strategy, and goals. They aim to address the public’s interest through the organization’s work and act as the legal voice for the organization.

Budget Committee:
The budget committee develops the organization's budgeting and financial planning.

Audit Committee:
The committee is responsible for reviewing and providing guidance on the organization’s financial matters. The Committee also reviews all financial statements and reports on financial activity that is due to be presented to the board. The Committee's responsibilities are to provide direction to the Board for fiscal responsibility, Ongoing review of the organization's revenues and expenses, balance sheet, investments and other matters related to its continued solvency. The committee also approves the annual budget and submits it to the Board for approval.

Golf Tournament Committee:
This committee is responsible for organizing the annual golf tournament.

Scholarship Committee:
The New London Kiwanis Club is unique in that every year we award 3 $3,000 scholarships to local graduating seniors that will attend a secondary educational institution.  This committee reviews the scholarship applications and after a process makes the decision on three individuals to receive the $3,000 scholarship.  At a later date we invite the scholarship recipient and their immediate family to dinner where we make a formal presentation of their scholarship and where we get to meet the recipients and learn about them and their accomplishments.
